Mayor of Tuzi

Lindon Gjelaj was born on August 8, 1977, in Tuzi. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown, while his university studies were completed at the Faculty of Philosophy in Pristina. Together with his colleagues, as a student, he founded the Union of Albanian Students from Montenegro, with the sole aim of assisting progressive forces in Malesia to contribute to improving the social and legal status of Albanians. After completing his studies, he worked as a sociology professor at “25. Maj” Gymnasium in Tuzi. His direct involvement in politics was associated with the Civic Initiative, later transitioning to the Albanian Alternative, which by its very name signalled a different approach to Albanian politics in the national political scene, as well as Montenegro’s relationship with us. This different approach was evident in his political activism as State Secretary in the Ministry of Public Administration. In 2021, he was elected as the director of the Mixed Secondary School “25. Maj” in Tuzi, and in 2023, he was elected as the vice president of the municipality of Tuzi. He served as a councillor in the Tuzi Municipal Assembly for nine years. He is married to Arjola, and they are parents to four children, three sons, and one daughter.
