Prof. Dr. Olivera Injac was employed at Department for Humanities of the University of Donja Gorica in the Security Studies programme from 2008, until her appointment as Minister of Defence of Montenegro in December 2020. She has worked as a teacher at all levels of study for subjects in the field of national and international security, security risks and security culture. In the period from 2011 to 2016, she covered the position of Head of the Study Programme for Security. Before starting her academic career, in the period from 2000 to 2008, she worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro. She is the author of scientific monographs, book chapters and a large number of scientific articles in the field of security. She has given scientific and professional presentations at several meetings in the country and abroad, and has also been a guest lecturer at several prestigious universities and international institutions. She is a member of the editorial board of the professional magazine of the Ministry of Defence of Slovenia – Contemporary Military Challenges – and the international professional magazine of the Ministry of Defence of North Macedonia – Contemporary Macedonian Defence. She actively participates in national and international scientific research projects, and has also been engaged as an expert consultant for international and national institutions. From December 2020 to April 2022, she was the Minister of Defence in the 42nd government of Montenegro. She is vice-president of the “Europe Now!” movement. In April 2023, she was elected as the Mayor of Podgorica. She is fluent in English.
