Mr. Barbaros Büyüksağnak, the Permanent Secretary of the B40 Balkan Cities Network, attended the Opening Ceremony of the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival on 15 August 2025, hosted by Sarajevo, one of the founding members of the B40.
As one of the most prestigious cultural events in the Balkans with a strong international resonance, the festival provided the occasion for Mr. Büyüksağnak to meet with Mr. Samir Avdić, the newly elected Mayor of Sarajevo, who took the office on 16 July 2025 and will lead the B40 Presidency in 2027 and Mr. Alen Girt, President of the Sarajevo City Council. The meeting took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of friendship and cooperation between the two cities.
During the meeting, it was underlined that B40 member cities strengthen regional solidarity through culture and the arts. Special attention was given to Sarajevo’s forthcoming presidency of the B40 in 2027, and the significance of its leadership for advancing cooperation and dialogue across the Balkans.
