Athanasıos Mamakos

Athanasios Mamakos was born and raised in Larissa. He studied law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a Master’s degree in European Youth Policies from the Department of International, European and Economic Studies at the University of Macedonia.

He has been working as a freelance lawyer for over 20 years, specializing in Civil Law, Administrative Law, Commercial Law, Personal Data Protection, and Sports Law. He is a member of the Disciplinary Council of Lawyers at the Court of Appeal of Larissa and serves on the Board of Directors of the Larissa Minors Protection Society.

His engagement in local government began in 2003 as a Municipal Councilor in the Municipality of Giannouli, a position he held until 2010, including serving as Mayor of Giannouli in 2007. Since 2011, he has been a Municipal Councilor in the Municipality of Larissa. Between 2013 and 2014, he served as Deputy Mayor for Financial Services, Local and Rural Economy, and Administration. He has also held the position of Deputy Mayor of Larissa and President of the Economic Committee of the Municipality.

In 2023, as the head of the municipal political group “The Larissa We Deserve,” he ran for mayor and was elected in the local elections held in October. He officially assumed office as Mayor of Larissa following his victory.

Outside of his legal and political career, he has participated in various sports and cultural associations. He has two children.
