The B40 Smart Cities and Digital Transformation Working Group held its inaugural online meeting on 11 June 2026, marking an important step toward strengthening regional cooperation in digital governance and urban innovation across B40 member cities.
The meeting was led by Mr. Tayfun İşbilen, Head of Information Technology Department of İSKİ (İstanbul Water and Sewerage Administration) while opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Barbaros Büyüksağnak, Permanent Secretary of B40, who emphasized the strategic importance of the Working Group in advancing digital transformation among participating cities.
Participants exchanged preliminary project proposals and identified key areas for collaboration, including smart city applications, data-driven urban management, and digital infrastructure development.
The meeting also served as a preparatory platform for the upcoming in-person workshop in Istanbul, scheduled for 28–30 June 2026, where member cities will further develop project frameworks and deepen institutional cooperation.
