Karlovo is located in Central Bulgaria along the Stryama River and it is a part of Plovdiv Province with a population of 25.091 people. It is a part of an area known as “Valley of Roses”. City was built on the medieval fortress Kopsis. It is believed that first Thracian capital may be located near Karlovo. City is also the birthplace of Bulgarian national hero Vasil Levski. Karlovo is a member of B40 Balkan Cities Network.
