Recep Gürkan

Mayor Gürkan was born in 1964 in Edirne. He graduated from Trakya University  Edirne School of Education in 1983 and from Anadolu University Social Sciences  Department in 2001. He has held various senior positions in the private sector and  in the public sector. He was elected as a Member of Parliament of the Edirne in the  elections of 12 June 2011. He served as a member of the National Education,  Culture, Youth and Sports Commission in the Parliament. He received the most  successful mayor of the year award at the award ceremonies organized by various  institutions and organizations. Gürkan has been the Mayor of Edirne since 2014, he  won his second term in 2019.
