Shaqır Totaj

Shaqir Totaj was born in Prizren on December 24, 1960, he completed his primary and secondary school in Prizren, to continue his studies at the University of Prishtina, majoring in Economics. He pursued his postgraduate studies at the University of Washington in the field of Management and Executive Leadership in the Public Sector. He is also certified as an International Tax Administration Performance Expert by TADAT, a special program of the IMF in Washington DC.

Totaj was part of the establishment of the Kosovo Tax Administration, where he continued to work for 20 years, holding various management positions, manager of the Regional Office in Prizren and Peja and manager of the Large Taxpayers Directorate in Pristina. In all these responsibilities, he worked closely with international experts from the USA, Great Britain and the EU, showing professionalism and integrity with very good results.

For eight years he led the basketball club “Bashkimi” in Prizren, during which time the team became the champion of Kosovo for the first time after the war and became part of the competition for the Balkan League. He also served as vice president of the Basketball Federation of Kosovo, helping Kosovar sports towards great achievements such as membership in the International Basketball Federation – FIBA. Most recently, he was an executive member of the board of the Joint Basketball League of Kosovo-Albania (UNIKA).

Over the years, he has also been involved in business. Since 2017, he has been an active part of politics. He speaks and writes three languages ​​fluently: Albanian, English, Serbo-Croatian and a fourth language, Turkish, at the elementary level.

He lives in Prizren with his mother, his wife Flutura, and their two wonderful, now grown children, Elena and Adonis.
