Ahmet Aras
Ahmet Aras was born on February 3, 1970, in Bodrum, Turkey. He completed his primary and secondary education in Bodrum and graduated from Maltepe Military High School. Aras began his professional career in Konya in 1992-1993. He then served in Ardahan between 1993 and 1996, where he attained the rank of First Lieutenant.
In 1996, he was appointed as the Head of Bodrum Military Recruitment Office, a position he held until 2000. During this time, he was stationed in Bodrum. In 2000, Aras was appointed as the Head of Zara Military Recruitment Office, earning the rank of Captain during his tenure. In 2004, he took on the role of Head of Viranşehir Military Recruitment Office in Şanlıurfa, completing this assignment in 2008 with the rank of Major.
From 2008 to the end of 2011, Aras served in the Ministry of National Defense. In 2012, he was deployed to Kosovo as part of the NATO-led multinational peacekeeping force, Kosovo Force (KFOR), where he was awarded the NATO Medal and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Returning to Bodrum in 2013, Aras transitioned to the tourism sector. In 2019, he was elected as the Mayor of Bodrum under the Republican People’s Party (CHP).
Ahmet Aras is proficient in English. He is married and has two children.
