The Executive Committee of the B40 Balkan Cities Network, its top governing body, held its first meeting in Tirana on December 7, 2024. The meeting was led by B40 President Erion Veliaj. Attendees included the mayors of Skopje and Çanakkale, as well as deputy mayors from Athens and Pristina, and the Chairman of the City Council of Sarajevo.
Also present were B40 Founding President and Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, and the Mayor of Izmir, Cemil Tugay. During the meeting, the Executive Committee recommended that the 2025 B40 Summit be held in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, and the 2026 Summit take place in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After the meeting, the members of the Executive Committee and other guests attended the Tirana Urban Forum, hosted by the Municipality of Tirana.
